Janice Kay in Columbine
This portrait of Janice Kay is set in one of her favorite places to be. The name of her cabin is “The Last Resort” and it sits near the road in Columbine, CO.
Janice spent part of her life growing up in Columbine and shares stories of how she had to board during the winter months to go to school and how her parents would ski down to see her on very long wooden skis.
It was only a few years ago that she closed her little roadside store, where she sold maps, memorabilia, ice cream and shared many stories with visiting friends and tourists to the area.
I painted 2 different portraits of Janice in this process.
